Kent House
This innovative architectural design concept’s eye-catching exteriors and subtle interiors maximise light and space while cleverly controlling heat
This luxury home on one of the best streets in Brighton was an architectural design concept we developed to assist with the sale of the land. We took the opportunity to test and explore new ideas while developing our creative portfolio and relationships.
The design concept showcases our ideas for a type of external framework skeleton which not only wraps the building but also extends to define an external courtyard. Each component of the frame creates an overly-exaggerated sense of depth which reinforces the ideals of strength and permanence, supporting a more lightweight softer inner core. The vertical elements have been angled to maximise daylight and views while controlling heat load from the east and west, creating a thermally comfortable interior environment.
At the heart of the home is a curved stair which rises elegantly through a three-level void. This void is not only a centrepiece, but also bathes the home with light and creates a visual connection with the landscaped courtyard beyond.
With six bedrooms, five living spaces including a cinema, a gym, a cellar with tasting bar, and space for six cars, this home appeals to those who desire the very best.
