Albert Park House

Breathing New Life into a Heritage Home

This Victorian-era home in Albert Park has been loved for generations, but as the family has grown, space has become tight. Wanting to stay in the neighbourhood they love, the owners decided to transform their home—carefully blending old and new to create a beautiful, functional space that meets their evolving needs.

The design respects the heritage charm of the original house while introducing a contemporary extension that enhances everyday living. A new rear addition expands the home, making room for an extra bedroom, a multipurpose space, a new bathroom, and a walk-in robe. The downstairs area has also been thoughtfully reconfigured, bringing in more natural light with skylights and opening up the rear portion of the home for a spacious new kitchen and living area.

With strict heritage and planning guidelines in place, the rear extension has been carefully designed to complement the existing home. A well-articulated façade ensures a seamless connection between old and new, softened by layers of planting that not only bring beauty to the space but also encourage local biodiversity.

This renovation and extension breathe fresh life into a classic Victorian home, ensuring it can continue to serve this family for generations to come—without losing the charm and character that make it special.
